




Obituary of Ronald Carl Castronova
Ronald C. Castronova, age 78, of Toms River, passed away on March 5th, 2025 with his loving children at his side. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Before retiring to Toms River in 2005, he lived in Leonia.
Ron grew up in West New York and North Bergen and was drafted into military service in 1966 with the United States Army. He was a helicopter machine gunner and then a crew chief with the Fifth United States Army Aviation Battalion.
In 1973 Ron moved to Leonia and began his Law Enforcement career with the Bayonne Police Department. After several years with Bayonne Police, he transferred to the Leonia Police Department, where he would call home for the next 22 years of Policing. Ron was a highly motivated Police Officer, excelling in DWI enforcement, leading the Department in arrests, his best year he removed 50 intoxicated motorists from the road. Ron was the recipient of numerous awards from the Leonia Mayor and Council and Bergen County Freeholders.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, James and Helen Castronova; brother-in- law, Karl Schinke and daughter-in-law, Heather Castronova.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Gallone and her husband Edward; grandson Edward the 3rd and granddaughter Madison Foley; son, Anthony Castronova and his children Gina and Anthony Jr. Also survived by his sister, Barbara Schinke; brother, James Castronova and wife Barbara; as well as many loving nieces. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Madelyn Bromley (Brad 2024) and sister- in-law Linda LaRosa who shared the same street in Holiday City where their companionship continued for years.
Ron was loved by all who shared his company, enjoying the simpler things in life, along with good conversation and a cup of coffee. Ron was most proud of his children and grandchildren, extending himself at a moment's notice. He was most happy in their company and will be forever missed.
