Obituary of Corazon Santos Callanta

Corazon Santos Callanta, 88, of Edgewater, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025.

Along with her parents, Dr. Hermogenes Santos and Filomena Bernal, Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Renato Maria; her sons, Renato Jr. and Rupert; and her brothers Ramon, Honorato, Pablo, and Desiderio. She is survived by her children, Melissa Rechner (Daniel) and Raymundo; daughters-in-law, Raquel and Jean; siblings, Carmen, Concepcion, and Juan; her grandchildren: Stephen, Sean, Stephanie, Margaret, Madelaine, Dominic, Alexandra, Ana Maria, and August; and great-grandchild, Francesco.

Cora was a lifelong learner and passionate educator. She taught at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, St. Elizabeth School, Monroe College in New York, and Bergen Community College in New Jersey. She also dedicated many hours to volunteering, teaching CCD and ESL in her community.

A memorial service honoring Cora’s life will be held on November 1, 2025, at 9:30AM at the Church of the Epiphany, 247 Knox Ave., Cliffside Park, NJ 07010. We invite everyone who knew and loved Cora to join us in celebrating her memory.
