Obituary of Mildred Elizabeth Bullerdick
Mildred E. Bullerdick
January 29, 1947 – May 31, 2026
Mildred Elizabeth Bullerdick (née Holder), 79, of Edgewater, NJ, formerly of North Bergen, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 31, 2026. Mildred was the beloved wife of George P. Bullerdick, 86, of Edgewater, NJ, formerly of Union City, NJ. The couple shared 26 years of happy marriage.
Mildred was the daughter of Clarence and Mildred Holder (née Krisek). Her family includes sisters Lillian Rufo and Eve Donnelley; brothers Joseph, Allen, Paul, Richard, and Johnny Holder; niece Lillian Donnelly; nephew James Donnelly; and great-nieces and great-nephews Quinn, Augustine, Penelope, Justice, Ryder, and Hope.
Mildred’s life was a remarkable example of determination, courage, and perseverance. Stricken with polio not long before a vaccine became available, she faced obstacles that would have discouraged many. Yet she refused to allow her condition to define her future. Through hard work and unwavering resolve, she attained her GED, built a successful career as an accounts payable clerk at Kmart offices, was a top Avon representative, and lived a life marked by independence, dignity, and purpose.
Inspired by her own experiences, Mildred became a passionate advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. She regularly wrote letters to state and federal elected officials, members of Congress, and newspaper editors, urging attention to issues affecting access for the disabled community. She believed deeply in the power of civic engagement and never hesitated to speak up for those whose voices were too often overlooked. Her persistence, intelligence, and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Mildred was also a creative spirit who enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. She found great joy in the music of the 40s, 50s, and 60s and was an enthusiastic animal lover throughout her life. She reserved a special place in her heart for her cats Cookie, Duke, Jessie, and Gem-Bella. Above all, she treasured her family and the many relationships that enriched her years. Her kindness, resilience, and love will be remembered always by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday June 4, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, at Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee, New Jersey 07024.
