Obituary of Moises R. Canal

Moises R."Papi" Canal of Hackensack, NJ, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Maywood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Maywood, NJ, at the age of 93. Born in Colombia, he came to United States in 1955. He was a machinist before retiring. A parishioner of St Francis of Assisi RC Church in Hackensack for many years he was a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Holy Name Society, an usher, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted volunteer at Saint Francis School in Hackensack where all the children called hm Papi. He was the first Colombian to settle in Hackensack. Beloved husband of the late Dora (nee Olarte). Dearest son of the late Moises Canal and Isabel (nee Armesto), Beloved brother of the late Isabel, Maria, Jose Alejandro and Cecilia. Devoted father of Jaime M Canal and his wife Marilyn, Nancy L Figueroa and her husband Mike, Moises J Canal and his wife Diona, daughter of the heart Martha Pertuz and her husband Jorge. Cherished Grandfather of Matthew,Amanda, Stephanie, Victoria,Miguel and his wife Jennifer, Chris and his wife Alicia, David, Keith and his wife Alba, Anthony and his wife Nicole, Michael and his wife Christine, Joseph, Edwing and his wife Karina, Amber Marie, Great Grandfather of Christian, Diana, Thilda, Katia ,Ethan, Kayleigh and Abigail. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Funeral from McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 9:45 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church, 50 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ, at 11 AM. Private cremation to follow. Visitation will be held at McCorry Brothers, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 5-9 PM.
