Please share a memory of Coraly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Coraly Pia died peacefully at the Maywood Center for Health and Rehabilitation the morning of April 26, 2020.
Born in 1919 to Quarto and Gabriella Rosso in a section of Union City, NJ, known then as West Hoboken. Married to Leo Pia on April 8, 1945 in the midst of World War II. She would tell how her family saved sugar ration coupons for the wedding. A devoted mother and homemaker, she raised her two children while still helping at the family dry cleaning business. Full of energy, Cora was always stepping up to help. An active participant at St. Anthony’s Church in Union City, she supported church fundraisers, bake sales and countless CYO events. A hands-on ‘Scout’ mother, she enjoyed making Halloween costumes and always cooking and baking for her family.
In later years, Cora developed a liking for photography and volunteered taking pictures of newborn’s in the maternity ward of Palisades General Hospital. For several years, she and her husband would host monthly parties for residents at a nursing home in Guttenberg.
Cora loved activities involving her husband and children. Together they participated in camera club activities, enjoyed dancing, walking in the woods, picnicking, ice skating and skiing. What family ski trips we had!
She is predeceased by her husband Leo, sisters Nancy and Nina and daughter Wanda Kennedy. She is survived by her son Robert Pia, daughter-in-law Joan Pia, son-in-law Kevin Kennedy, grand children Amy Pia, Bobby Pia, Brian Kennedy, and great-grand child Leopoldo Pia Gasbarra.
Cora will be entombed at Madonna Cemetery on Wednesday, April 29. Due to pandemic distancing restraints, a private service will be held.
