Obituary of Vincent J. Mahon

Vincent J. Mahon, 68, a native son and lifetime resident of Fairview, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 21. An electician and long-time member of the I.B.E.W. Local #164, he was a loving father, grandfather and brother. A graduate of St. Joseph of the Palisade's HS in West New York, Vinny was a baseball and football star. Vinny was a passionate supporter of Special Education and was instrumental in establishing a program for the deaf in Bergen County that enabled his son Kevin to attend school. A nature lover and traveller with a special place in his heart for the clay cliffs of Block Island. He found peace walking along the Palisades at Allison Park in Alpine. Vinny is survived by his three sons, Michael Mahon of Quincy, MA, Kevin Mahon of Lodi, NJ and Daniel Mahon of New York, NY and two grandchildren, Kevin Ryan and Jennifer Mahon of Lodi. He is also survived by sister Rita Woodcock and husband Robert of Cincinnati, OH; sister Loretta Mercougliano and husband Lou of Tom's River, NJ; sister Clare DeBlasio and husband Ronald of Teaneck, NJ; sister Deborah DiMauro and husband Gerald of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; sister-in-law Geraldine Mahon of Sandyston, NJ as well as numerous neices and nephews. He is also survived by his long-time partner Rosanne Lee of Closter, NJ. He is predeceased by his siter Patrica Hoffman and brother James Mahon. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday July 24, at 10:15 AM at St. John's Church, 239 Anderson Ave., Fairview. All are asked to go directly to the church. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, July 23, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at McCorry Brother's Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Ave. in Cliffside Park. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations to The Alzheimer's Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ, 07834-1365, so that no one will have to suffer from this terrible disease in the future.
