SMITH - Ronald J. "Smitty" of Bayonne formerly of North Bergen and West New York. Suddenly on 12/12/12. Loving husband of Noreen. Father of Christopher Amoroso(2001) Justine and Albee Savianeso, and Randy and Megan Smith. Cherished grandfather of Sophia Amoroso, Alyssa & Chris Savianeso, and Lucy Smith. Predeceased by his parents Josephine and Allan. Smitty is survived by his 2 brothers and sister- Steven and Christie Smith, Kenny and Susan Smith, and Joanne and John Lenzie. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Grace Coffin, in-laws Kenneth and Joanne Coffin, and John Coffin and many nieces and nephews. He is a 1968 graduate of Memorial High School in West New York and in 1976 became the youngest exalted ruler on record in the State of New Jersey of the Weehawken Elks. He worked for Consolidated Dairies for 40 years and then Cream O Land Dairies for the past 2 years. He worked his whole life in the milk business starting at a very young age delivering glass bottles to homes while working his way up the ladder. There was not a sale he could not make, a store he hadn't been in or a street that he didn't know. He was considered a human road map; if he didn't know how to get there, you didn't need to go there. He was an absolute wizard with numbers; seldom using a calculator to do figures. His Indian customers knew him as "DoodhWala" (Indian for milkman). He had friends and customers from all walks of life and was well-known wherever he went. Smitty enjoyed spending time with his grandkids whether they were playing sports, cheerleading or "hanging out on the veranda". He and his wife, Noreen, loved to go to Atlantic City, and then later to Philly Park, to try and hit the big jackpot on their favorite poker machine all the while listening to country music and gallivanting in his car. He enjoyed watching professional sports and the news and would discuss either topic in detail with whoever was interested. He read two newspapers everyday, cover to cover. He loved to do the crossroad puzzle in each paper while enjoying his coffee and cigarettes. He would only drink his coffee with half and half; if you didn't have half and half, then he didn't want the coffee. His sense of humor and his willingness to tell you exactly what he thought will be sorely missed. Funeral from McCorry Brothers, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ, on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at 8:45 AM . Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady Of Grace R.C. Church, 395 DeLano Place, Fairview, NJ, at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, NJ. Visiting hours on Friday, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
