SONNENTHAL - Elizabeth H., of Teaneck, NJ, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013. She was born in Trieste, Italy, on March 22, 1953. After traveling with her parents around Europe as a child, she eventually returned to Trieste and then took up residence in the United States in 1969. A lifelong admirer of beauty, Elizabeth received a B.A. in Fine Arts from Queens College. She was fluent in several languages, worked for Berlitz as an instructor, and also as a News Producer for Radio Alitalia, the Italian TV news network in Manhattan. From 1996 until 2011, Elizabeth was employed as a social worker at the Cliffside Park Welfare Department, a position she enjoyed very much. She was a very kind, soft spoken compassionate individual, who cared deeply for her clients, always showing them respect and understanding. She loved cooking, traveling, fine dining and all kinds of animals, specially cats, four of whom she adopted, and gave a loving home.
She leaves behind an aunt, and several cousins in Italy. She is survived by her husband Edward T. Carlson. Memorial visitation on Sunday, 1/13/2013, from 4-7 PM at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ. In lieu of flowers, a tax deductible donation may be made in her name to: CLAWS: Closter Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 172 Closter, NJ 07624. .
