It's been five years since my Mom has passed. While growing up, we don't really have any idea if our parents were good or not since we really don't have any point of reference to judge. Only after I became a Dad and a provider for my family did I realize how good a parent she was to me. Although she worked 5 days/week as a teacher, she always looked out for me. She always made sure I had breakfast in the morning before school, she made my lunch and always had dinner made after she came home from work. Although these might seem as trivial things, I know many kids growing up didn't even have these basic needs met. Although we did clash over many things over the years, she never wrote me off and always made clear that she loved me no matter what I did or became. She taught me what family means. She never complained. This is why I'm thankful I was able to look out for her during her last years and ensure she was well taken care of before her passing. She was able to die in the comfort of her home. I am happy for that. I miss her as she (other than my Dad) is one of a very few people who always had my best interests at heart (even though I did not always see it that way). I love you, Mom
