I knew Mrs. Leonilda as Mrs. Lee and as a person who made me laugh and feel happy. I only knew her for a short time as a caregiver. I am very sorry for Mrs. Barbara and Mr. Bill for their loss. She will be loved and missed.

I wrote this Poem for Grandma called :
Heaven's Masterpiece
Wings have taken an angel up to the sky.
The angel speaks "I'm not ready to fly."
The wings speak sweet words," Don't be scared, don't cry, for I have given you the strength to fly.
The angel replies, “Height scares me, I will fall!"
The wings reply, "Trust me for I have given you another gift, to not only fly, but to be able to watch over ALL of your loved ones down on earth. You will see how much your love was worth.”
The angel smiled with joy and said “I’m ready. Hold me steady."
And away they went. The wings took the angel where she could have an amazing view.
She was now able to help guide those hearts who were blue because they missed her too.
She began to paint their hearts with color and love while gliding through the heavens above.
And put a smile on everyone's face when the touch of color trickled down their face.
For every drop of paint that dripped, a beautiful canvas became equipped.
And finally a masterpiece just as the angel she is, was sparkling with love and color up above.

Being adopted, I've learned its not giving birth that makes a woman a Mom. It is the woman willing to share love, understanding, compassion, encouragement and laughter. It is the woman willing to shower praise, support, guidance and jokes. It is the woman willing to open her heart and home without a thought of reciprocity. Today I remember that woman, a woman I lovingly called Mom for over 25 years. A woman my husband has had the blessing of calling Mom since the day he was born. It was my honor to call you Mom. You brought me many years of love and have shown me parental love at its best. Rest in Peace, Mom. Rest in Peace.

Aunt Lee and Uncle Bill were my second parents. They were beacons to me during hard times. Lee offered love and care at every sharp turn in my life. There is an empty spot in my heart today....My sincere condolances to Bill Barb and the kids....

These are some memories of my grandma. You will be truly missed. Heaven gained another angel. I remember the smell of bacon at 5 am grandma would be cooking on the weekends my sister and I would spend with her and grandad. Shanya her big white Samoyed would lick my face and say "helloooo" to greet me. Lisa and I would wonder into the kitchen to see grandad already devouring his plate and grandma still cooking away . She would say good morning ! So chipper at such an early time. I would look out the window while eating to see the dew sparkling on the grass as the sun rose and a few deer grazing in the back field. We would go to yard sales and find unique things with them. Look at the 18 wheelers as we drove to the beach. Made sand castles and collected shells together. Grandma always had something yummy on the table or to offer. She always put her guests first. When I was looking for jobs she always cut out a handful from the papers. She helped me find my first teaching job. She has and always will appreciate art and beauty of the world. I will remember her by her artwork and books she has written for me and my family. I will continue the tradition to write as much of my dreams and accomplishments as she wished so my grandchildren can see the collection of memories one day.
My artistic talent came from both my grandparents and my mother and I hope my gift can be passed on to my child one day. My love of horses came from my grandma and I will continue to live through her wishes and dreams. RIP . I love you so much.

Daughters and mothers have a special connection that goes beyond the realm. The memories I have could last two lifetimes. We told each other how much we loved each other these last weeks. These might have been the best gifts we ever gave each other and allow us both to be at peace. Love to Mom in heaven who is now with my dad and brother and embracing the afterlife after a long and wonderful lifetime. p

Heaven gained another angel. Mema Lee, you were a one-of-a-kind woman. A kind of woman they don't make anymore. You were raised by two incredible strong parents who came from Italy to start a new life in what "was" the Hollywood of it's time - Fort Lee. You took the first steps over the GWB (which your father helped build), and you made Fort Lee your home by climbing down the cliffs to swim in the Hudson River and watching the stars take timeless pictures. You worked jobs before it was common for women to do so. Hence the word "jobs"- telephone operator, seamstress, and nurse for the wounded during WWII. Then, you met your Prince Charming. You married him in Englewood Cliffs and raised 3 wonderful children. But that wasn't it. From the moment my sister and I were born, you took care of us with unconditional love. You took us to ballet and dance class, taught us your "secret" recipes, words in Italian, and most importantly told us your many incredible stories which we will keep with us forever. You were the strongest woman I have ever known. Although my heart is broken and will miss you everyday, I celebrate your incredible life that you had. Your love, memories, and legacy will live on forever. <3 We love you so much.
