Obituary of Camillo Macchione

  Camillo Calisto Macchione, 91, of Cliffside Park, NJ, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born on February 8,1933 in the town of Nocera Terinese, located within the Calabria region of Italy, to the late Nicola and Teresa (née Vaccaro) Macchione. As a young man, he served in the Italian military. In 1958, he married his wife Angela where his job required traveling across Italy, Switzerland and France. In 1969, he migrated to the US with their three young children. He worked over 25 years with the Bergen County Overpeck Golf Course where he was cherished by fellow workers and made countless friendships. He loved family gatherings, making homemade wine and tomato sauce, but his true passion was nursing the vegetable garden…in particular, his favorite fig tree.

Beloved husband of over 66 years to Angela (née Isabella). Loving father to Teresa Federico (Freddie), Rosella Sabino (Leonardo), Nicola Macchione (Lisa), and John Macchione (Catherine). Devoted grandfather to Alissa (Ryan), Alessandra (Tony), Valentina, Isabella, Nico and Madison. Great grandfather to Miles and Tessa. Camillo is also survived by his sister Ninetta Ciranni in Italy and the late Rosina Cario. Many nieces, nephews and cousins are also surviving. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ 07010 with a prayer at 10:30 AM. Entombment to follow at 12:00 PM at Fairview Mausoleum, 501 Bergenwood Road, Fairview, NJ.
