My Joe Dabbs memories
Life’s lantern’s light is gone--the wick is no more.
Joe’s smiling face has left thru another door.
Whether called Joe, Doc, or Dad
He gave each request all he had.
As his memories and guilt left the mind,
Only his true loves were there for him to find.
He goes to be with his Savior and Mother dear,
And friends who have passed, to whom he draws near.
We’ll miss his voice and stories ALL SO true,
That would turn any gray sky into blue.
He leaves three shining stars to carry on,
Charlie, Marianne, and John.
These lights of his life, will shine through.
In many things they will say and do.
And someday soon through grass filled with dew,
His light will shine from heaven anew.
This leaves me with not much else to say,
Save I hope to see you again Joe, on some great day.
