Obituary of Irene Julia Damiano
Please share a memory of Irene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Irene Damiano, 90, of Ridgefield, NJ, passed away early October 11th, 2016. She is survived by her two sons, Douglas and his wife Gail, and Joseph Jr. and his wife Deborah, along with her four grandchildren: Dana, Douglas Jr. Dean, and Dawn.
Irene was born to Joseph and Mary Hornick of Avoca, Pennsylvania on May 4th 1926. She was one of 8 sisters: Ann (predeceased), Helen (predeceased), Cecile (predeceased), Jean, Dolores, Stella, and Barbara.
Irene moved to New York to become a waitress at Stouffers Restaurant. Later, she met her husband, Joseph Damiano. The couple settled down in Ridgefield, NJ to raise a family. Irene and Joseph were married for 65 years, until Joseph's death on September 9th, 2015.
Those who knew Irene remember the sparkle in her eye, an adoring smile, and a great sense of humor. She had a passion for gardening and a strong devotion to the Catholic faith. While she may of had difficulty calling people by the correct names, she loved them with her whole heart… and eventually got their names right. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.
