Obituary of Frederick Justin Berenbroick

Frederick J. Berenbroick, 81, of Leonia, NJ passed away peacefully on December 15, 2017. He was born on September 4, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Melville Berenbroick and Anna Marie Berenbroick (nee Justin).
He grew up in Cliffside Park NJ and graduated from Cliffside Park High School. He received a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken NJ, member of their Men's Chorus Alumni, 50th Reunion Committee and member of the Metropolitan Club. He worked at Lever Brothers Company as a Research Chemist in Edgewater NJ until his retirement.
He resided in Leonia, NJ, and was active in various aspects of the town. He was elected to the Leonia Board of Education, served on the Leonia Environmental Commission, and the Leonia Planning Board.
For many years he was a member and Elder at Bergen Boulevard Reformed Church and then at English Neighborhood Reformed Church, Ridgefield, NJ.
Frederick's many Masonic achievements included: Being raised as a Master Mason and serving as Worshipful Master in Whitehead Lodge, District Deputy Grand Master of the 5th Masonic District, and Secretary/Treasurer of the 5thDistrict Scholarship Fund. He was coroneted as a 33º Mason. He was a Past Grand Commander of The Knights of Templar, and Associate Regent for the York Rite Sovern College of North America. He was a member of the Order of DeMolay for over 60 years, served as an advisor at Nathan Hale Chapter in Ridgefield Park, NJ, and received the DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was a member of the Shriners, as well as many other Masonic bodies.
He enjoyed cruising and traveling to far off places.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lynne (nee Kroh). Sons Frederick W. Berenbroick, his wife Clair of Freehold, NJ and William J. Berenbroick, his wife Lisa of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. Beloved Grandfather of Nicholas C. Berenbroick, Sarah C. Duffy and Christopher S. Duffy. Dear brother of Robert E. Berenbroick and his wife Kappy of Montvale, NJ. Also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours on Monday, December 18, from 7-9 PM with a Masonic Service at 8PM, and Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home, 780 Anderson Avenue, Cliffside Park, NJ. Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11AM. Interment to follow at Green Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
Since Fred was an avid supporter of philanthropic endeavors, the family has requested in lieu of flowers donations in Frederick's memory to be directed to: Children's Dyslexia Center, 404 Tenafly Road, Tenafly, NJ 07670.
