Obituary of Robert D. Fisher Jr.
Robert Denton Fisher Jr., 92, a lifelong resident of Cliffside Park peacefully passed away on July 20, 2019. He was born to the late Robert D. and Mathilde (Scherff) Fisher, December 29, 1926 in Union City, NJ. Robert is predeceased by his loving wife Doris (Aiello) Fisher.
Robert served his country honorably in the US Navy during World War II as a Radioman on the USS Mercy. This ship was commanded and crewed by the Navy for the Army. During his service he received many awards, the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal as well as the Asiatic Pacific and Philippine Liberation stars.
Robert had a long career as a researcher of securities and worked independently publishing books of his works, The Robert D. Fisher Manuals which catalogued obsolete securities
Robert was a lifelong proud resident of Cliffside Park. He was a graduate of Cliffside Park High School and was inducted into the Cliffside Park Hall of Fame for being part of the 1943 Basketball State Championship team. Bob loved Cliffside Park and would always say, “Cliffside Park is the best place to live.” Bob, a retired Cliffside Park Police Captain, was a proud member of the Honor Legion. He received the Gold Medal of Valor which was awarded for actions beyond the call of duty; exhibiting exceptional courage, regardless of his personal safety to protect the safety of others.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children James Fisher, Janis Dobson, Karen & Thomas Grady, and Barbara & Simon Bracco. He will be forever remembered by his two sisters Arline Fisher, Nancy (Fisher) Gross and his dear companion Marcella Axley. He was blessed and will be lovingly missed by his 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and nieces.
Funeral from McCorry Brothers Funeral Home 780 Anderson Ave, Cliffside Park on Thursday July 25,2019, at 9;15 AM. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Church of the Epiphany 247 Knox Ave, Cliffside Park, NJ. at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Madonna Masouleum, Fort Lee, NJ. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
