Juana Ramona Mercado de López 27 de Agosto 1925 - 1 de Abril 2020 La señora Juana Ramona Mercado López (Mamá) falleció en el Bronx, NY, a los 94 años de edad el miércoles, 1 de abril del 2020 debido a complicaciones de neumonía. Mamá Juana era una persona extraordinaria como ninguna otra: fue hermana, amiga, madre, suegra, abuela, una bisabuela, y una tatarabuela. La cual extrañaremos y siempre estarán presente en nuestros corazones los bellos momentos que nos brindó cada día. La historia de Mamá está llena de trabajo duro, honestidad, sacrificios y mostrando fortaleza en los tiempos difíciles. Conoció a su esposo, Ramón López (Papá Ramón) en la República Dominicana, después de un noviazgo contrajeron matrimonio en el año 1943. Juntos, dieron vida a 14 niños antes de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en el año 1988. Una vez en Nueva York, reconstruyó su vida con la ayuda de sus hijos que primero emigraron a este país. Papá y mamá juntos crearon un hogar estable que sirvió como puerto donde sus otros hijos anclaron sus destino y lo usaron como hogar para su propia transición migratoria. Ella fue una gran matriarca que utilizó su amor por la fe, la familia y la humanidad para avanzar y ayudar a todo aquel que la necesitó. Mamá fue una mujer muy espiritual, estaba llena de amor radiante y hacía que los que la rodeaban se sintieran en paz. Todos los que la conocían la adoraban profundamente debido a su compasión, paciencia y su sencillez. Que lograba contagiar de risas a los que con ella compartían. El legado que dejó a su familia, amigos y las personas de su comunidad es inconmensurable. Siempre fue y será muy respetada en la comunidad de su iglesia y el impacto que tuvo allí siempre será recordado. Mamá nos enseñó mucho sobre el amor, la familia, Dios y su conexión mutua. Su sonrisa iluminaba cada habitación en la que entraba, su risa llenaba de alegría a todos los que la rodeaban. Ella nos dejó hermosos recuerdos; la forma en que sonreía y aplaudía cuando bailaba, cuando sostenía nuestras manos entre las suyas y todos sus maravillosos consejos. Estas son las hermosuras de su vida que llevamos dentro de nosotros y ella permanecerá dentro de nuestros corazones mientras continuamos tocando las vidas de otras personas con el amor que nos mostró. Mamá, siempre te amaremos y estamos muy agradecidos de haberte tenido en nuestras vidas. Tu amor nunca será olvidado y seguiremos tu ejemplo de fe en Dios, amor, humildad y honestidad. Dando siempre lo mejor de nosotros, siempre ayudando a todo aquel que nos necesite, la fe en el Señor y la unidad familiar. Este legado será una herencia viva que irá de generación en generación. Mamá tuvo una vida llena de amor, y en la próxima le espera su esposo, Ramón López, y su hermano Alejandro. Aquí les sobrevivimos sus queridas hermanas, Isabel y Bienvenida, sus 14 hijos: Santa, Carmen, Domingo, Juliana, Máxima, Camila, Verónica, Sandino, Nicolás, José, Asunción, Anna, Grecia, Eva; junto con sus 54 nietos, 84 bisnietos y 13 tataranietos y contando. Juana López was an extraordinary person: a daughter, a sister, a friend, a mother, a mother-in-law, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a great-great grandmother. She will be deeply missed in all of the roles she played throughout her time with us, and for all of the beautiful moments she shared with us. Mama’s story is full of hard work, honesty, sacrifices and finding strength in times of hardships. She met her late husband, Ramon López (Papa Ramon) in the Dominican Republic, and after a courtship they married in 1943. Together, they were able to give life to 14 children before immigrating to the United States in the year 1988. Once in New York, she rebuilt her life with the help of her children who first immigrated to this country. Papa and Mama created a home together for her other children to use for their own immigration transition. She was a great matriarch that used her love of faith, family and humanity in order to push through adversity and help all who needed it. Mamá’s spirit was one full of love, it was radiant and made those around her feel at peace. She was deeply adored by all who knew her due to her compassion, patience and of her humble heart. Her contagious laugh always brought out the sunshine on any rainy day, and she reminded us how important it was to share joy with one another. The legacy that she left on her family, friends and the people in her community is immeasurable. She will forever be highly respected in her church community and the impact she had there will always be remembered. Mamá taught us all so much about love, family, God and their connection to each other. Her smile lit up every room she stepped into, her laughter filled everyone around her with glee. She left us with beautiful memories of her; the way she smiled and clapped her hands when she was dancing, when she held our hands in hers, and all of her wonderful advice. These are the parts of her we carry within us and she will remain inside of us as we continue touching other people’s lives with the love she showed us. Mamá, we will always love you and we are incredibly thankful to have been loved by you and to have your teachings to guide us. Your leadership has given us the faith in God, a deep understanding of love, humility, and the importance of continuing to be a united family. We will always give the best versions of ourselves and always help those in need with love, unity and faith in our hearts. Mamá’s legacy is one that will be passed on throughout time, generation after generation. Mamá is predeceased by her husband, Ramon Lopez, and her brother Alejandro Mercado. Surviving are her beloved sisters, Isabel Mercado de Martinez and Bienvenida Mercado, her 13 children: Santa, Carmen, Domingo, Juliana, Máxima, Camila, Verónica, Sandino, Nicolás, José, Asunción, Anna, Grecia, Eva; as well as her 54 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren y 13 great-great grandchildren and counting.
