I had the pleasure of meeting Emil and his wife, Gloria, at the senior living community where I worked. I chatted with them daily when I saw them in the dining room having dinner together. I was touched by Emil's attentiveness and devotion to his wife.
It brought a smile to my face when I would see Emil buttering her bread or cutting meat so it was easier for her to eat. I often told Gloria what a lucky lady she was to have a husband who was so good to her, and asked Emil if he had any single brothers.
Emil was a very intelligent man and interesting to talk to. He was heartbroken when his wife of 71 years passed away and often told me how much he missed her. They were both delightful people and I'm glad I had an opportunity to get to know them.
