Obituary of Emil Gene LaViola
Emil Gene LaViola 91, of Paramus, NJ, formerly of Englewood Cliffs on Friday, July 20, 2018.
Emil was predeceased by his sisters Ida Winczewski, and Tina LaViola, his brothers Joseph, Armond and Mario LaViola. Also his wife Eileen Anne LaViola (nee Toner)
Surviving are his loving children Emil Jr., Jeff and his wife Elizabeth LaViola, James, Timothy and his wife Regina Louise LaViola, Mary Ann and her husband Robert Cryoskie. Also surviving are his devoted grandchildren Anthony LaViola, Angela Schneider and her husband Jonathan, and John and his wife Beth LaViola and his great grandchildren Vonnie, Emilee, Jacob, Cole, Logan, Tanner and Evelyn.
Emil was a proud World War II Navy veteran who served in the Battle of Okinawa and the liberation of the Philippines. He also participated in the surrender ceremony at Tokyo Bay on his ship the USS Teton. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with 1 Star, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
Emil was a musician in the Catskills and a Vice President with Columbia Pictures/Screen Gems. He was also the music coordinator for The Monkees television show and recordings. He guided the careers of Carole King, Neil Sedaka, Tony Orlando, Neil Diamond and other stars.
Visiting hours on Thursday at McCorry Brothers Funeral Home 780 Anderson Ave Cliffside Park on July 26, 2018 from 5 - 9 PM. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Holy Trinity R.C. Church, 2367 Lemoine Ave, Fort Lee, at 10:00 AM the following morning. Interment to follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, NJ.
